Hotel set in the countryside some distance from Carcassone. Nice onsite restuarant with good evening meals.
A couple of things to watch for: (1) Spa in this case mainly means a swimming pool and a sauna in the main gym (2) the hotel splits between 2* and 3* so superior double means 3* double...

The hotel a facinating historic building well appointed in a lovely village, the staff and locals made us most welcome. The hotel is well placed to explore historic towns and villages, the beautiful countryside and we even made it to the seaside. A car is a must

Interesting Abbey/School location and spacious grounds
The place is getting a bit tired, don't expect luxury

This hotel in a small village was a hidden gem! The historic building was impressive, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. Great location in a beautiful town
Did not know about city tax of 4 Euro before travel. Unexpected bill at checkout. Fire alarm went off at 4 in the morning due to strong wind and as it is windy a lot in the area I would suspect this to happen quite a lot. This is worrying because in case of a real fire there were no actions taken by the hotel staff.

The Abbaye Ecole hotel building and history are wonderful. It is like walking back hundreds of years into this institution in this very picuresque village. Surprisingly it was very quiet and not visited by more tourists. It is set in a lovely rolling sunflower landscape. In summer there is a music festival, so check what is on and some of the concerts take place in the hotel auditorium. One of the singers was warming up for the concert when we arrived in our room ! The 2 star room was basic but very adequate. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent and not over-priced.
Not really a complaint, but be aware this is really two hotels in the same buildings. One is 2 star and the other 3 star and, as you would expect, at different price points. Presumably the cadets at the military school lived in the 2 star wing and the staff and officiers in the 3 star !

The building was stunning and full of history. It was also surrounded by beautiful gardens, which made for a very serene atmosphere. the room was cozy and had a comfortable bed, plus the bathroom layout was very practical. the location was convenient as it was just a short walk away from the charming medieval village and its many picturesque streets.

The room was small but functional and clean and the area and grounds are very pretty. There is a nice indoor pool.
It was all just a bit odd. The hotel is split in 2 and both parts seemed to be almost totally empty, we barely saw another guest in the 2 nights we were there. The village itself is very small and there was only one other restaurant (other than the hotel), but it was closed... The whole place, village included, lacked atmosphere. If we hadn't had a car we would have felt very isolated.

It is a beautiful building and gardens to wander around.
Rooms very small and too expensive for very basic facilities. The 2** rooms are located in a very rundown part of the building and very noisy as you can hear other guests in their rooms. The photo's of the rooms on the website are not the rooms you are given. Breakfast is not included in the room charge. No directions around the hotel-we never did find the pool or spa!

This hotel is a real gem! It's situated in a charming small village, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The converted abbey is truly impressive, and the attention to detail in its design is remarkable. The staff provide excellent service, and the basic amenities are well-maintained. The rooms are comfortable and offer great value for money. I also loved the breakfast spread, it was delicious and satisfying.
Everything was perfect.

Lovely setting, atmospheric, excellent restaurant (closed Sunday evening), good pool.
Not a spa hotel in my opinion; and the monastic ambience might be a bit spartan for some, but we loved it.

The Abbaye and its history are truly fascinating. The 2-star hotel room was perfectly adequate for a one-night stay, the restaurant was excellent and the museum and all the buildings are well worth the visit.
